Mixed Number and Fraction Operations:
From: | To: |
A mixed number combines a whole number and a proper fraction (where the numerator is less than the denominator). For example, 2½ represents 2 + ½.
The calculator performs four basic operations:
Instructions: Enter whole numbers, numerators and denominators for both mixed numbers. Select operation and click Calculate.
Example 1: 3½ + 2⅓ = 5⅚
Example 2: 5¼ - 2½ = 2¾
Example 3: 1½ × 2⅓ = 3½
Example 4: 3¾ ÷ 1½ = 2½
Q1: Can I enter improper fractions?
A: Yes, but they'll be converted to mixed numbers in the result.
Q2: What if I enter 0 as denominator?
A: Denominator defaults to 1 (division by zero is prevented).
Q3: How are negative numbers handled?
A: Negative values aren't currently supported in this calculator.
Q4: What's the maximum number size?
A: The calculator handles typical values, but extremely large numbers may cause errors.
Q5: How is simplification performed?
A: Results are simplified using the greatest common divisor (GCD).
